How to Make It?
Ingredients
For the Cupcakes:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream, room temperature
Or, you can conveniently forget all that you read above and simply use Tropolite’s chocolate cake premix.
For the Frosting:
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 ounces dark chocolate chips (melted)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp heavy cream
Process
Step 1
For the Cupcake:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add in eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Beat in vanilla extract and sour cream until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Do not overmix! Fill muffin liners with batter about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until the toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cupcake.
- Cool completely before frosting.
OR as mentioned above, if you want to do it the easy way without compromising on quality and taste, you can use Tropolite’s chocolate cake premix and follow the easy instructions mentioned on the box.
Step 2
For the Frosting:
- Beat together powdered sugar and butter until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
- Beat in melted chocolate (make sure it isn't too hot), vanilla extract and heavy cream until smooth and creamy, for about 3 minutes on high speed.
- Spread the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes as desired.
Savor, Conclude, Delight
Also, if you desire a different type of frosting, such as a heavy whipped cream frosting or a buttercream frosting, you can rest assured to use that too, as it works just fine with chocolate cupcakes. Furthermore, if you’re into it, you can pour a spoon full of chocolate ganache to decorate your cupcake. Because, as the saying goes, a little too much chocolate is just about right!
And if this isn’t fancy enough, you can use white fondant toys or even fresh-cut strawberries and tooty fruity to top off your cupcakes.
So there you have it, your decadent and fancy chocolate cupcakes with that extra chocolate punch are ready to be devoured.
